Country Life Part 1

Place and Mind

The cloak that falls across my eyes , green

Soft, waiting, giving space for thought and heart

Does shield my eyes, or does it help them see

If less is more then full my pulse may start

Yet my heart’s longing plays for clever sight

Should I yield calling to the busy thing

Unveiled by man’s invention and grand plight

Or pace myself amongst a quietening

The beauty gifted by the light of morn

Is simple and benign to a point mute

The birdflight spurred by footsteps made at dawn

And yet the thought of all else brings dispute

This gentle indecision will not rest

No place external ever can be best
